Connect Gmail (with an app password)

Google does not let email programs use your normal Google password. For AllMailHub you create an app password once. It takes about two minutes.

Create an app password at Google

  1. Sign in to your Google Account and open “Security”.
  2. Turn on 2-Step Verification if it is not active yet. Google only offers app passwords with it.
  3. Open the “App passwords” page (myaccount.google.com/apppasswords), enter a name such as “AllMailHub” and click “Create”.
  4. Google shows a 16-character password. Copy it, because you will only see it this once.

Connect Gmail in AllMailHub

  1. Pick Gmail in the setup assistant or under “Add account”.
  2. Enter your Gmail address and, as the password, the app password without spaces.
  3. AllMailHub checks the connection and loads your mail.

Good to know

  • Google is ending Gmailify and fetching other mailboxes over POP. This does not affect the connection from Gmail to AllMailHub, because we use IMAP.
  • If you change your Google password, all app passwords stop working. Create a new one and enter it in AllMailHub.
  • Your Gmail labels appear as folders in AllMailHub.

Server settings

You usually do not need to enter these, AllMailHub detects them automatically. Here they are in case you need them.
